More Than 5 Million Children Have Lost Their Right to an Education
The number of displaced people is estimated at more than half a million, most of whom have fled from Sana’a, Aden, Lahj, Ibb, Al-Houta, Ataq, Haradh, and the villages of the border strip in northwestern Yemen.
From mid-2014 to April 2015, armed groups targeted around 150 schools, completely or partially demolished them, or seized and transformed them into military barracks and weapon storage.
We appeal to the Houthi group, forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, and the popular resistance not to target civilians, use them as human shields by storing military equipment in residential areas, or seize humanitarian aid and relief teams in areas they control.
We appeal to the forces of the Decisive Storm coalition to abide by the laws of war and to avoid bombing populated areas and civilian and humanitarian institutions.
Targeting or using service and humanitarian facilities such as schools, hospitals, water networks, and sources for military purposes and preventing the arrival of humanitarian aid are war crimes that are inconsistent with international humanitarian law and covenants. #SeyajYemenOrganization #YesToPeace
